Few things are more frustrating than loading expensive glossy photo paper into your Epson printer, only to end up with a thin white line along one edge or, conversely, having heads and landmarks severely cropped off the top and sides of the frame.
This tutorial outlines the fundamental causes of borderless margin clipping in Epson Easy Photo Print and provides step-by-step adjustments to achieve full-bleed, edge-to-edge photographic prints.
Why Borderless Clipping Occurs: The Expansion Factor
Standard inkjet hardware achieves borderless prints through a process called overspray expansion. The driver artificially enlarges the digital image by 2% to 4% beyond the physical paper edges so that minute mechanical feed tolerances never leave a white border.
However, if the digital photo has an aspect ratio (e.g., 4:3 from a smartphone) that differs from the paper (e.g., 3:2 for 4x6" / 10x15cm paper), significant portions of the image are automatically shaved off unless manually compensated.
Solution 1: Adjust the "Expansion Amount" Slider
- In Epson Easy Photo Print, select your images and proceed to Step 3: Paper Settings.
- Click the Printer Properties button next to your selected device.
- Look for the Page Layout or Main tab and locate the Borderless checkbox.
- Click Settings... next to Borderless.
- Set the slider to Min (Minimum) or Mid instead of Max.

Solution 3: Physical Paper Guide Alignment
If the white line only appears along the left or bottom edge, the issue is mechanical feed skew. Loosen the blue paper guide tab in your Epson printer's rear feeder or cassette, push the photo paper packet flush against the right wall, and slide the guide until it rests snugly against the paper edge without bowing it.
